Confirm Power De-energization
Before performing the discharge operation, first ensure that the dry-type transformer is completely de-energized. This usually involves disconnecting the load switch or circuit breaker on the high-voltage side to ensure that the transformer will not be suddenly energized.
Prepare Discharge Tools and Protective Measures
Prepare the grounding wire: Ensure that one end of the grounding wire can be reliably connected to the grounding point.
Wear Insulating Gloves: For the safety of the operator, qualified insulating gloves must be worn.
Verify De-energization
Use a high-voltage detector to verify the high-voltage side of the transformer to ensure that the transformer is de-energized. This step is crucial and can effectively prevent electric shock accidents caused by misoperation.
Connect the Grounding Wire
After confirming that the transformer is de-energized, clamp the grounding wire clips onto the cable post on the high-voltage side to ensure a good electrical connection between the grounding wire and the transformer.
Close the Grounding Switch
If the control switchgear is equipped with a grounding device, the grounding switch should be closed immediately after disconnecting the high-voltage side power switch. In this way, the residual charge in the transformer will be safely discharged through the grounding device.
Wait for Discharge to Complete
The discharge process may take some time, depending on the transformer's capacity and the residual charge. Operators should wait patiently until it is confirmed that the transformer has completely discharged.
